Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that more than 730 drug smugglers have been arrested across the Union Territory as part of an intensified crackdown against narcotics and drug trafficking networks.

The statement was made during a review of ongoing anti-drug operations and law enforcement measures being carried out in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said security agencies and police units have significantly increased action against narcotics-related activities over the past several months in an effort to curb the spread of drug abuse among youth.

According to the administration, the crackdown has resulted in multiple arrests, seizure of narcotic substances, and identification of several smuggling routes operating across various regions.

Manoj Sinha said the administration remains committed to eliminating the drug menace and ensuring strict action against individuals involved in illegal narcotics trade.

He stated that drug trafficking not only affects public safety but also poses a serious threat to the future of young people and the social stability of the region.

Authorities said anti-narcotics operations have been strengthened through coordinated action involving Jammu and Kashmir Police and other law enforcement agencies.

Officials added that investigations are also being carried out to trace financial networks and organized groups allegedly involved in drug smuggling activities.

The administration has repeatedly emphasized the need for public cooperation in identifying and reporting suspicious activities linked to narcotics distribution and substance abuse.

Several awareness campaigns and rehabilitation initiatives have also been launched in different districts to help individuals affected by drug addiction and prevent the spread of substance abuse among students and youth.

Security officials said strict surveillance is being maintained in vulnerable areas and along routes suspected to be used for illegal transportation of narcotic substances.

The anti-drug campaign has been described by officials as part of a larger effort to strengthen law and order and protect communities from the harmful effects of narcotics.

Residents in several areas have welcomed the intensified action against drug smuggling and called for continued enforcement measures to dismantle illegal networks operating in the region.

Authorities said more operations are expected in the coming weeks as agencies continue investigations related to narcotics trafficking and associated criminal activities.

The administration has assured that individuals found involved in drug-related crimes will face strict legal action under applicable laws.
