The National Testing Agency has officially announced that the re-examination for NEET UG 2026 will be conducted on Sunday, June 21, 2026, following approval from the Government of India.
The announcement comes after the cancellation of the earlier NEET UG 2026 examination amid allegations related to paper leak and concerns regarding the integrity of the examination process.
Officials said the decision to conduct a fresh examination was taken to ensure fairness, transparency, and equal opportunity for all candidates appearing in the national-level medical entrance test.
Lakhs of students across the country are expected to appear in the re-examination, which will once again determine admissions to undergraduate medical and allied courses.
The National Testing Agency stated that detailed guidelines regarding examination centres, admit cards, and revised schedules will be issued separately through official notifications.
Candidates have been advised to regularly visit the official NTA portal for updates related to the examination process and important instructions.
Authorities said all necessary measures are being taken to strengthen security and monitoring systems for the re-examination in order to prevent any irregularities.
Following the controversy surrounding the earlier examination, several strict protocols are expected to be implemented at examination centres across the country.
Students and parents have reacted with mixed emotions to the announcement, with many expressing relief after clarity regarding the fresh examination date.
At the same time, several candidates said the re-examination would require them to restart preparation under additional academic pressure after months of uncertainty.
Education experts believe the re-examination will play a crucial role in restoring confidence in the national medical entrance examination system.
Officials reiterated that maintaining the credibility of competitive examinations remains a top priority and assured students that the examination process would be conducted in a transparent manner.
The NEET UG examination is one of the largest entrance tests in the country and is conducted for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other undergraduate medical programmes.
Further updates regarding admit card release dates and examination instructions are expected to be announced soon by the National Testing Agency.
